Because we wanted to be in a place that we’ve never been to before, I suggested to my mom and dad that we visit the newest Ayala Mall here in Quezon City – Ayala Fairview Terraces. Although it was not fully furnished and polished yet, there were already some restaurants that are open. However, most of them are fast food joints and fast casual restaurants. The best one that we found is Blackbeard’s Seafood Island.
We chose Boracay’s Feast with San Mig clams, grilled liempo, chicken adobo sa gata, grilled squid, grilled tilapia, grilled talong, okra, grilled pineapple, and bagoong rice priced at P 735.00 (good for three to four persons). We chose the dish because, again, I’m with my mom and dad! There were lots of dishes that they cannot eat. For them, the Boracay’s Feast is the healthiest option we have.
First, the San Mig clams tasted good but the clam meats are really small and some of them are empty. Perhaps, it was all just for presentation. Next, their grilled liempo is cooked well. However, the chicken adobo sa gata disappointed me because this is the only one that sounded so different, but it was really salty. Meanwhile, the grilled squid and tilapia were just fine. In fact, I kind of wished we grilled tilapia at home and brought it there.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to taste any seasoning from the grilled talong and grilled okra. Talagang grilled lang! On the other hand, the grilled pineapple quite surprised me because it was my first time to devour one. Lastly, the bagoong rice is not really that ma-bagoong to say the least.
The ambience can be summed into two words: pwede na. Compared to their other branches that I as able to pass by, theier Ayala Terraces Fairview branch is much better. However, I cannot explain how unsatisfied I am with the price they charge for the food they served. Accckk!! Sorry, but I am not sorry. The price was not worth it. Maybe it was priced high because the concept of dining is different. There, people will not be shy about having to eat with their hands despite the fact that they are in a resto. One thing that is good with their boodle fight is that when you are really famished, the servings would probably make your tummies happy.
The service we experienced from the branch is poor, too. Those who served us were not that friendly and would just do their job without the feeling the need to build a rapport. Even if they are in full house, I do hope that they would not forget establishing a relationship with the customers, especially since they are not serving fast food. Still, my mom, dad, and I tried to be considerate and just dismissed their poor service to the fact that they have just opened. To sum it all up, this dining experience is just like one of those dining experiences we have had.
