We have this high school friend named Angelo who usually bails out from our plans whenever we wanted to catch up. MJ, Hannee, and I were quite in shocked when he invited us to hang out, so we were kidding him and teased him that he might be announcing that he is getting married or having a baby.
Well, we were right, but not quite. He did have a baby, but the baby that he has is a new car! My female instinct suggests that he wants to stroll around with us, because we remembered our college days when we used to ride jeepneys from Manila to Novaliches. We studied in different universities, but we managed to meet up somewhere and go home from school together. Clingy, I know. Lol.
Angelo said that he is going to treat us to a restaurant that offers delicious ribs! To my surprise, it is just near my workplace and I would often see people lining up outside Rub waiting for their turn. Now, I just feel so lucky that the day has come for me to try this restaurant.
For our main course, we ordered the Family Brunch (P 720) which is good for four and comes with 3 side dishes of our choice.
Roasted Garlic Mashed Potato
Grilled Buttered Corn
Garlic Spinach and Mushroom
Bacon and Potato Salad
Sprice (Spiced Fried Rice)
Bacon & Mac & Cheese
The ones in boldface are the sides that we requested. I highly suggest the garlic spinach and mushroom, because they are so tasty! Meanwhile, we ordered Sprice which costs P75 per serving. The Sprice has shrimps, with a hint of paella flavor. It tasted good, but I only ate half of it. I’m not totally a rice-lover type of person, but for those who love rice, I guess their serving of rice would not be enough to complement a very large rib!
I agree with how Angelo described their rib. Indeed, their ribs are first class, but not overpriced. The serving is big that my jaw dropped. The meat can be easily pulled off from the bones. We savored each and every nibble of our award-winning late lunch.
The dessert that we have is Banana Caramel Crepe (P 190). The waiter got our order wrong, but we chose not to complain about it anymore, because we’ve already wrecked its plating. MJ and Angelo did not try it, because they do not like cinnamon, whereas Hannee and I loved it. The vanilla ice cream is delicious!
I couldn’t agree more with the good reviews that I have read from the internet. The food is affordable (a rib dish usually costs P400+ but it only costs P200+ in Rub Ribs & BBQ), and the quality of the dishes we tried in Rub would not disappoint diners. Plus, the serving is really a steal based on their pricing. On the other hand, the branch in Tomas Morato is really small and a claustrophobic would probably not feel comfortable there. It’s a good thing that the place is air-conditioned and that there are a few pieces of art placed in the interior, giving the place a nice ambience. The wait staff is courteous, yet the one assigned to our table gave us the wrong dessert. Also, we lingered longer, because the process of payment is rather slow.
