My cousin from Davao who is currently working in Bataan had the chance to be with me last Independence Day simply because it’s holiday! Meanwhile, my friends invited me to watch Insidious 3 that day. Because of that situation, I’ve decided that my cousin would join to our company so that I’d be with my favorite people all at once. Yay, cheesy!
After patiently queuing at the cinema which made us more famished, we headed to Slappy Cakes because we’re slap-slap (palong-palo sa paghaharot) 😀 I guess the waiter had gone crazy with us as well which makes me to realize it happens all the time whenever I’m with my friends. We do not know if we should go for pancakes or for our own main dish. Derek suggested that we should just go for both but for sharing. Yeah, why we haven’t thought of that?
HOW TO ORDER THE D.I.Y. PANCAKES
Choose a batter 8 oz bottle (think of Coke bottle)
- Buttermilk – P 255
- Chocolate – P 260
- Peanut butter – P 260
- Red Velvet – P 260
Choose toppings (They have toppings unpaired, too but we followed what they suggested on the menu)
- Blueberries and Lemon Curd
- Bananas and Coconut
- Chocolate Chips, Bananas & Whipped Cream
- Hazelnut Spread & Bananas
- Coconut, White Cheese & Salted Duck Egg
- Cream cheese frosting & chocolate chips
We chose: Blueberries and Lemon Curd; Cream cheese frosting and chocolate chips
For my main dish, being bacon maniac, I ordered Bacon Benedict (P 350). It’s an English muffin with two poached eggs, spinach leaves, bacon strips flavored with Hollandaise sauce. There are potato wedges on the side. I know, I know Benedicts are just really full of cholesterol but heck I don’t eat something like this everyday.
Meanwhile, Derek ordered Salmon Benedict (P 350). It has same ingredients except for the bacon and the salmon plus his dish have onions. He commented that the Hollandaise has lesser taste and I agreed.
Ariane ordered Slappy Moco (P 250) which is one of their bestsellers. It’s a grilled burger served with steamed rice, sunny side eggs with mushroom, red bell pepper and spinach sauce. Wow! I like spinach sauce!
The serving satisfied our hunger so much so I’m giving it a 5. Apart from the lesser taste of the Benedicts, I could say that the taste also satisfied us. With such huge servings, we really can’t argue about the price on their menu. The place is unexpectedly roomy because looking it from the outside seems cramped, it is well lit and the aircon isn’t too cool. The server is friendly and accommodating despite the resto is in full house. There were just a little delay with some of our request but other than that, it’s pretty awesome.
