Shawarma Bros, UP Town Center

Shawarma Bros first concept restaurant  at Pasig back  in 2014 plus their expertise as a food truck that started in 2012 didn’t stopped them to crawl over Metro Manila’s favorite hang outs, continuing to offer Middle East-inspired dish in the favor of Filipino taste buds.shawarma-bros-2

The newly opened wing in UP Town Center could only mean a new place to stroll and to look forward to if your tummy’s screaming for foooood! Shawarma Bros owners plotted this very well. Bloggers and I had the chance to meet one of the Bros, Abraham Castro.

Aside from our group, the restaurant is almost full despite the rainy weather. Shawarma Bros is well known on its Lamb Steak Rice Plate (P219) that makes the diners to keep on coming back.

Honestly, it is my first time to try Shawarma Bros. Why? It’s because I had tried shawarma in the kiosks we used to see around and its beef is chewy which I think would be hard to digest and also the flavor is powerful. So, I’m sorry for generalizing. 🙂 With that, I thank Aldous for inviting me that made me to change my judgment when it comes to shawarma because Shawarma Bros offers a meal with well-balanced flavor.

The lamb steak is a thing you don’t normally taste in your everyday life so I highly suggest to order this. The meat is cooked in excellence because the lamb does not smell “malansa” and the biryani rice has its own peppery taste which complements to the meat.shawarma-bros-6

On the other hand, we also tried the chicken and the beef. As expected, all of it are not greasy. Thumbs up for that.

To explore your taste buds, they have sauce as shown on the pic below. My personal choice is the cheese!

garlic yogurt, chili tomato, and cheese sauce

The keema, is a minced beef flavored in a sweet & spicy way. Top this on your rice to explore more flavors! You can actually include this in your meal. Just add P40 to have that Big Bro meal. The picture below is just served separately for us. 🙂shawarma-bros-4

To excite the palates of the avid diners and the first timers, there are new additions to the family of Bros’ menu that are sure to whet your appetite!

Pita Tostadas with Garlic Hummus (P80) would amazed you how crunchy it is but in a mellow counterpoint.  Serving it with a garlic hummus is a
pleasing appetizer which is now  my favorite!

The Keema Nachos (P159) – is a crunchy nacho corn chips, accompanied by grated cheese, diced tomatoes and onions. and drizzled with your choice of two sauces.Simple and straightforward, but it’s a food that makes you to start talking anything under the sun. Or rain, in our case.shawarma-bros-5

The interior is industrial playing a black, brown and yellow color. They offer a hefty price with a generous serving. This would be good market since UP Town Center is the hub for students. The servers are polite and attended to our needs right away. As for the taste,  I like it since it’s not very strong. However, if some foreigners will try this one out, I’m not quite sure if they’re going to love it because it’s made for the local’s preference. Anyway, most numbers here in the Philippines are Filipinos so why do we have to worry about that? 🙂
