Team Aldous on 3 at Manila Culinary and Hospitality Academy

I was supposed to have my out from work at 7:30 PM but our last client and her friends enjoyed too much in our services that they felt at home. By the way, I am currently working in a bridal shop which means I don’t own my weekend.

My friend, Shiela whom I influenced to blog, waited for me for almost an hour because she wanted that we went together at #TeamAldouson3 party.Aldouson3 (14)

Just to give you the background on how Aldous and I met, it was in the year 2012 when he posted in a Facebook group that he is looking for some bloggers to feature Au’s Cakes and Pastries which, her mom, is the woman behind it. From then on, he started inviting me in some of his food tasting events, then eventually Team Aldous happened.

Aldous is a guy you would think you can’t crack a joke on his presence. Sometimes, he looks like his thoughts are wandering that makes you to think he’s a snob. But wait till you get to know this foodie guy who has contagious laugh. 😀 😀 😀

Shiela and I arrived at Manila Culinary and Hospitality Academy and went straight to the rooftop where the party is held hosted by DJ “Toni Tubero”.  As we got there, the program is about to end. Sob! So we took pictures right away before they pack up. HA!

The Royal Caterer provides the food for our hungry tummy! It was their re-launch, very timely for the third anniversary of Team Aldous.

I like all the appetizers except for the one with black olives.

As for the kebabs, I’m not really a fan because it’s really given that it has less seasoning so I guess it’s just enough for my protein for the night.Aldouson3 (7)

Surprisingly, this triangular-shaped wanton wrapper with stuffed inside is the food to come back for MORE! (Sorry names will be filled out once I’m informed)Aldouson3 (6)

As for the pasta, they have three sauces: shrimp tomato vodka creamy sauce penne, dried sweet tomatoes & spaghetti, and creamy pesto linguini.Aldouson3 (10)

I only tried the shrimp tomato vodka creamy sauce penne because I thought that the shrimp flavor will be prominent boy I was wrong. I would suggest grabbing the creamy pesto linguini instead.Aldouson3 (16)

They also have maja blanca, blueberry panna cotta and mango panna cotta. In fairness, their desserts got me.

Another sugar rush food were presented to us but this time, it’s from Maraschino Bakeshop.

There were just so many cakes and I think I can’t eat too many sweets. Ergo, I took it home. As I went home the cake does not look presentable to take a picture anymore so I got a picture from them the Red Velvet Strawberry Cheesecake (P950). I could be biased here because I like cheesecake and I like red velvet. It is moist and very heavenly to eat.unnamed

In spite of the time management and heavy rain issue, Shiela and I still made it to reach the rooftop. Okay, pun! And as for Aldous, you already know a lot of new bloggers, and I know that I’m not the old me who was very active to attend blog events but still you keep on inviting me in your foodie adventure. At dahil dyan, Salamat sa hindi paglimot! Soooo… cheers for the past, the present, and the future food events! May Team Aldous grow bigger and bigger.

7Flavors, San Juan

When we think of flavors, the usual things we know are sweet, salty, bitter, sour and spicy. Then when I was in grade school, I learned about umami flavor. However, there is a restaurant in San Juan named 7Flavors. Just what could the 7th be? Aha! Astringent.

Anyway, what’s more convincing with the existence of 7 flavors is because the menu in 7Flavors is crafted by a celebrity chef, Chef Boy Logro.7 Flavors (23)

7Flavors is a go-to place whenever you want to have a buffet, a cafe, and a bakery. Yes, it brings us the convenience because it’s all set in one place. I went straight to the second floor, in the buffet area, where my colleagues were already eating.7 Flavors (11)

The second floor can cover 150 pax. It looked spacious and classy. There are three function rooms available; one can hold 30 pax, while the other two can each hold 15 pax. It’s funny that there’s a surprise birthday party when we dined there. Roses, cake, and boys are overflowing!7 Flavors (12)

Anyway, let’s start the real good stuff – food! To start, there’s a salad area.

 

What’s the common favorite of the crowd is the resto’s tacos. I did not try it because I’m the messy diner for that kind of food. I wish I could take it home. Teehee!7 Flavors (5)

The main courses are all in stainless steel warmer. The food I loved the most is Seafood Creole and Fried Fish Escabeche.7 Flavors (10)

On the carving section, I tried the roast beef and it is tender and flavorful.

There’s also a selection of maki which is displayed in a nice presentation in a wooden boat. 7 Flavors (14)

There’s also halo-halo. I’m a fan of halo-halo but the weather made me to decide to let it pass. There’s also an ice cream but you have to ask to the chefs first.7 Flavors (7)

The desserts were not that exceptional except for Mango Panna Cotta. Oh mangoes, I love.7 Flavors (6)

On the first floor, where the cafe and the bakery are located, the ambience is homey and rustic. Just look how beautiful this art is.7 Flavors (17)

It is definitely a place to hang out with friends or family.

While you do chitchats, have this colorful ensaymada for P50 with seven distinctive flavors – ube, pandan, butter, cheese, coconut, flan and bacon. While the presentation is interesting, wait until you taste its moist and fluffy bread. They also have 7Flavors Cheesecake. Too bad, all were out.7 Flavors (19)

We are fortunate enough that we are able to have an access inside the kitchen where Bea Alonzo had her shoot in How to be Yours movie.7 Flavors (22)

Rate: 4.5/5 The staff were friendly in assisting guest and bus out the plates right away to avoid having many plates on the dining table. At an affordable price, you can have a variety of food choices so why won’t you recommend this one? The only missing 0.5 here is the location. It’s a bit hard to find if you won’t t catch a cab to get there. Also to Waze, big thanks. You don’t have to worry though for parking space if you are bringing a car with you.

Chef Laudico Guevarra’s Buffet, San Juan

To be honest, I do not know how to elaborately write about buffet meals, because I get so overwhelmed with the feast. It was so sinful. I just wanted to try them all. So, I’ll simply try my best to explain what I have devoured last August 13 at Chef Laudico Guevarra’s. Wow, even the date sounds sinful. Anyway, I wasn’t able to make it the first time I got an invite to dine at Chef Laudico Guevarra’s. This is why I made sure to attend the second invite that comes along. Fortunately, it came, but from a different person. It’s like I was destined to visit the place, lol. Here’s a shoutout to Ross for letting me experience the delightful Filipino buffet that is Chef Laudico Guevarra’s. From afar, the place looks like a White House. chef laudico (20)

Chef Laudico Guevarra’s is owned by Chef Rolando Laudico and Chef Jackie Laudico. Yep, they’re husband and wife. They met when they were in college in UPD and the rest was history. We weren’t able to meet Chef Rolando, but we were fully entertained by the sweet and charming Chef Jackie Laudico. I cannot, nor would you, believe that she is already in her 40s.

To start off, I tried the carvings section which features Angus beef, pork, and chicken. The pork (the one being cut out in the photo) was quite salty, but the meat was so soft. Their newest addition to the buffet is the Angus Beef. It’s thinly sliced, not chewy, and it was perfect. Their Angus Beef Kare-Kare is quite oily, but it’s delicious. I also like the bagoong paired with it. The Halabas na Hipon, on the other hand, was not that tasty. However, the Baked Pangat Dory was well-blended.chef laudico (14)chef laudico (13)

The Fried Chicken Adobo has a typical taste, but the Chicken Pastel with the rolling lava of cream is quite exquisite.chef laudico (11)chef laudico (10)

I was drowned with the succulent flavor of The Seafood Palabok, but the Party Pasta was not exactly rocking my boat. The Bagoong Rice pumped up our meal.chef laudico (8) chef laudico (9)chef laudico (12)

To finish off my meal, I tried their Pichi-Pichi, Brownies, and Leche Flan. I wish I picked the Chocolate Tart instead, because my fellow bloggers told me that it tastes good. They also have an ice cream section, but I was told that it was too creamy, so I didn’t give it a try anymore. The place, as told by Chef Jackie, was an old house that was turned into a spa before becoming a restaurant. The house is very spacious and has a very bright ambience. It has a hint of having been built in the Hispanic era and the owners wanted to preserve its original structure. They have just repainted it and restructured some parts. In the mean time, part of their decorations are the plates signed by special people like celebrities, singers, newscasters, etc. After that, we were also given a plate to have us sign. When it comes to the location, I am not quite sure if it’s accessible for everyone, but the receptionist told me that the Shaw Boulevard MRT station is a few walks away. The price from Monday to Thursday during lunch time is P 399.00, while they charge P 499.00 for dinner. From Friday to Sunday, they charge P 599.00. There are also some hidden charges, so expect your P 399.00 to be around P 440 – P 450. It is highly suggested for customers to call beforehand, because walk-ins are mostly directed to the waiting area. They also sing Happy Birthday for celebrants and provide a slice of cake for free. The staff accommodated us well and they were so polite.
