Mac N’ Chicks, The Yard Street Food Cinema Food Park

Aside from pizza, I find chicken wings as one of the bests food to share. Not really sure if where it was discovered what chicken wings could magically do on our palate, I’m sure everyone has loved nibbling and savoring the flavors of it.

If in the common fast food chains where plain fried chicken is served, the chicken wings restaurants boldly explore flavors that will be liked by the diners. Just like Mac N’ Chicks at the Yard Streetfood Cinema Food Park, I loved the variety of sauces they offer for the chicken wings.

They have 8 flavors to offer and I got to try three of them. It is served with CHUNKY fries on the side. Just look at the photos!

Spicy wings in this cool weather, The Sriracha Wings (P170) should not be amiss.

Butter, garlic, and parmesan- just imagining these combinations makes me drool. The Garlic Parmesan Wings (P180) is my favorite!

Honey Garlic Wings (P170) is also good especially for people who love to have a kick of sweet flavor to their wings.
Mac N' Chicks (7)

I have also tried the Mac & Cheese Balls (P140) It is crunchy but with a surprise of soft bite because of the stuffed gooey cheese. Look the dip has also cheese!

Located on the second floor of The Yard, the stall of Mac N’ Chicks will not really catch your eye. However, this will not be missed by people who have already tried their food from their first branch which is in the Xavierville. The price is beyond reasonable I guess since their wings are really chunky and so is their fries. The downside of the stall though is to have the patience waiting for the food.

RBCTY, Maginhawa

One of the reasons that makes people get stressed living in the city is because of the heavy traffic. In my case, to commute five hours everyday six times in a week for almost two years is one of the factors that made me decide to take a break in a short time. Ergo, I was able to attend a food event because I’m freed from the working  world. And I thank Aldous for inviting me.RBCTY (1)

Indeed the city could give us a lot of stress, but if you are going to a city about ribs it’s a feast! That’s what totally happened to us, bloggers.

To start this joyride in RBCTY, served to us is Dynamite. Surprisingly, there’s no bombing happened but a spark. I mean spark means kilig, kilig means asim kilig especially with that salsa sauce. Don’t kill me, I’m not corny.RBCTY (4)

Next served is the beer’s best partner, Not Just Nachos (P198). Truly, this nachos dish is special because of the rib shreds. “I’ll stop the world, and melt with…” cheese. I love nachos!RBCTY (5)

After a long ride, we finally arrived to the Big City (P718).  RBCTY (6)

Big City is good for three to four persons and you may choose four side dishes. We were able to try eight of the side dishes. I like the coleslaw, mashed ‘tato, potato salad and the thin fries that is sour cream flavor. Of course, CTY rice is a recommendation, too. We’re Asian, peeps.RBCTY

Want to have a look again of Big City? This charcoal-grilled ribs is just really huge! Hitting the ribs with the lights, Big City is sparkling because of its overly drizzled barbecue sauce. I love that the sauce is not too sweet and not too sour. The meat is tender and luscious!RBCTY (7)

Now that we got the ribs, we’re going to have the wings! Their chicken wings are one of the bests I had. It’s crispy but fleshy; it’s a wings that is not intended for snacks but for a meal.  RBCTY (8)

The wings that we got made us fly in heaven because the next served to us is… drum roll please! Desserts!

RBCTY (13)
Queso de Bola Cake
RBCTY (12)
White Toblerone Cheesecake
RBCTY (11)
Brownie a la Mode

Queso de Bola Cake (P148) is saltier so I like the White Toblerone Cheesecake (P148) better. Both of the cakes are dense but what made me to reach heaven is because of the Decadent Brownie a la Mode (P168). The chewy brownies, rich vanilla ice cream and the oozing chocolate sauce is very sinful. I don’t know why it feels heaven when in fact it is sinful. LOL!

The restaurant’s theme is street so there are so much industrial elements to this place. RBCTY’s location is quite a secret place because you have to get in to a building that looks like an apartment. Surprisingly, it has a second floor that can accommodate up to fifty four persons. While the serving is satisfying, I am most pleased to the taste of the food that we got to try. For a restaurant to cater what is most valued to the diners – the quantity, the quality, and the price, the meal they offer is pretty much affordable. As for the service, I am very much grateful that the owner, Ms. Aya, entertained us well but as for the servers, I hope they would smile and be more energetic. 🙂 They are attentive, though.

Buffalo’s Wings N’ Things, Fairview Terraces

Lately, I’ve been craving for chicken wings (especially Buffalo’s Wings N’ Things), but I really didn’t have the time to dine there. For one, the branch I know is located at SM North Annex, which is simply too far from MRT North Avenue Station. This is why it was a nice surprise when I got an invite from Kim—on behalf of Open Rice—regarding the food event that was to take place at Buffalo’s Wings N’ Things on the 30th of September in Ayala Fairview Terraces, their newest branch.  Without any hesitation, I said yes despite my busy schedule.buffalo (5)

Below is the photo showing the heat level of their Buffalo wings for your guide:

However, I only got to try their Honey BBQ. Yes, I was playing it safe! It’s has a sweet and sour taste and the level of the spiciness is very bearable!buffalo (1)

Here’s the dirty rice if you are really feeling hot… hot mainly from the wings! What’s on top is basically the salsa dipping for the nachos.

The Quesadilla tastes good as well, but it was a bit thin for me. It would be a good side dish, though.buffalo (3)

Meanwhile, the marketing manager—Miss Regine—informed us bloggers that there’s a contest on who’s got what it takes to finish 6 wings of Ultimate Wingsanity! Some of my team mates joined and said that they felt the heat from their throat to their face. They were basically sweating! They cannot endure the heat, so they settled on eating one piece each instead.buffalo (8)

The restaurant feels spacious and it is also well-lit. The price is not bad based on their serving size. One order of chicken wings would make you feel full. I’ve tried dining in a different branch of Buffalo Wings N’ Things before. If I were to compare their service with their Fairview Terraces branch, I’d say that their Fairview Terraces branch has more courteous servers. The dishes here can be really challenging to eat, especially for those who can’t handle the heat.

So, what are you waiting for? Get buffaloed, now!
