Uncle Cheffy, Tagaytay

Embracing the beauty of Taal Lake from afar is one of the reasons why people love to go to Tagaytay. As tourism continues to grow, putting up an amusement park like The Sky Ranch Tagaytay is one way for the people to spend their day happily by having a fun ride experience.

For the people who are hungry but do not want to go far from the amusement park, there are restaurants in the area. Some of the restaurants in Sky Ranch can only be found in Tagaytay while others also have branches in Metro Manila like Uncle Cheffy. With 13 Uncle Cheffy branches, sure this restaurant should you have not missed.

People might think Uncle Cheffy Tagaytay settled for the same food as they offer in Manila area but the Batangas Bulalo is an exception. Tagaytay that is known for offering bulalo, Uncle Cheffy make way to this beef soup dish zipped in by the locals and tourists. The soup is very rich and flavorful inclining to the salty side.

Craving for meat? Uncle Cheffy has All Meat Barbecue Platter brimming with the meat of lamb, beef, pork, and chicken. The lamb is good that it has a hint of herbs, and the beef is tender. The beef has a little sour touch when putting Memphis sauce on the side. The pork is chewy and sugary but still, it tasted good. On the other hand, the chicken is bland but pairing it with the sauce on the side satiates your palate. Oops, let’s not forget the delicious potato marbles!

After getting carnivorous, the Lovely Jenny Salad do not only give you leafy vegetables but also generous slices of apples, salmon, in a French dressing. The salad is named after the founder’s wife.

After having salad, here comes the All Meat Barbecue Panizza, where Uncle Cheffy is known for. The thinness of the bread gives more the room for savoring the flavor of the toppings. It is cheesy and topped with beef teriyaki, pork barbecue, and chicken barbecue meat! A-must order!

Lastly, the contrasting color of cream cheese and chocolate of Cheffy Cheesecake keeps you a lot of spoonful bites. The cream cheese is not as smooth as you would expect but it is the chocolate, in particular, entices you to have more.

Overall

Uncle Cheffy Tagaytay has adapted the nearby restaurants where it feels cozy. On the other hand, they have maintained the ambiance of the restaurant along with other Uncle Cheffy branches like the presence of the wood and the yellowish lighting. With this ambiance, people might think that going here for a meal is pricey but your P500 is enough to feel full and the serving is also big. The waiters are all attentive and as for the taste, it is overall good.

Chateau Royale Hotel Resort and Spa, Batangas

Chateau Royale is a spa and resort in Batangas that is more or less 13 km away to Tagaytay. Its accessibility to Tagaytay is one of the advantages of choosing this accommodation. As Tagaytay is known for its cool weather because of its high altitude, tourists and even locals frequent here to relax and to enjoy the scenic view of the smallest volcano in the world, the Taal Lake. So if the best hotels in Tagaytay are fully booked, resorting to Chateau Royal Hotel Resort and Spa is a nice place to go.

The Room

Chateau Royale has a lot of accommodations around since the resort is 100 hectares. From cabins, townhouses to hotels, Chateau Royale has it. My friends and I stayed in the Skylight Tower. The facade of the building is a glass that makes to look like a university from the outside. By closely looking at it, the glass looks like it was just added to the structure; I guess they have done this to keep the guests away from the rain. Nevertheless, it’s nice that we can already see the view outside even if we’re on the third floor.

Our room is large and we were actually 5. The room has a living room with TV, a kitchen bar, ref, a cabinet, and 1 single bed and 1 twin size. We added 3 extra beds. Towels, linens, are clean but the blanket is not a comforter. There are also shampoos, conditioners, toothpaste, and tissue.

Meanwhile, here are the other rooms we saw while strolling around. The log cabin looks pretty cool and the townhouses look like we’re somewhere in the US.

The Swimming Pool

The swimming pool of Chateau Royale is a thing that they can be proud of. The pool is huge and it also has waves but only works on a specific schedule. If I remember it right, the schedule in the morning is from 9 to 9:30 and 11 to 11:30, I guess.

There’s also a pool bar where the entire pool can be seen and to where the picture above is taken.

Also, there are life-size floaters to play around. Look how fun this is! Even the setting of the pool area looks like a beach.

Other than the wave pool, there is a clubhouse pool near the reception area of the resort that is also big.

The Restaurants

We arrived around 12 noon so we have decided to eat at One Fishing Place. It’s a Filipino theme floating restaurant where there are coys swimming freely underneath our nipa huts. The food served to us tasted great. I just noticed though that they like thick sauce so much.

The next morning, we ate at the Asian Grill. It’s a buffet type serving Asian cuisine. However, don’t expect much for the food. The exterior of the place looks posh, though.

There are other 2 restaurants which we have not tried, the Veranda Cafe and the Pan de Chateau.

The Spa

The Spa has a promising ambiance that totally made us feel relaxed. Aside from body massage, their spa has a gym, a sauna, and an indoor pool. We totally love the pool since it feels so private and luxurious. For promos, here are the Chateau Royale rates.

The Service

Since Chateau Royal Resort and Spa is a huge resort, the from and to would take a lot of time for the guests so they have provided shuttle service for the convenience of everybody. The staff are all accommodating and friendly.

The Amenities

Chateau Royale Resort and Spa is very suitable as a company outing venue since the place is very spacious. There’s Forest Sports Bar, Tent Pavillion good for private functions. They have halls for conferences or functions and they also have the facility for team building like the obstacle course as seen on the picture below.

The garden is also a good venue for weddings!

Activities

Some of the outdoor activities that can be done here are rock climbing, zipline,  playground, basketball, badminton, orchidarium, badminton court,  swan lake, archery, and aviary.

Overall

Chateau Royale has a lot to offer to the guests. While I was there, I can say that there are a lot of foreigners who chose to stay here. From the statues displayed to every part of the resort, I can guarantee that the owner is a Chinese. On the other hand, I hope they will continue to have a facility upgrade to have more recommendations from the guests. It was an awesome experience to stay in a large resort but the downside of a property this big is the difficulty of its maintenance. Overall, I can see the success of the business of Chateau Royale in the future especially that the people are looking for are mostly there. I hope that they will not only give what the guest needs but also what the guest wants and that is to feel like a royal!

Casa Minerva, Tagaytay

We got Casa Minerva for P11,193 for an overnight stay. Exceeding more than 20 pax will have an additional payment.

My high school friends and I left Novaliches at 6 in the morning to Tagaytay but we went to the airport first to pick up one of our friends who just had a tour in Dubai. I know, it was a hectic schedule for her but she actually came from the USA. She pretty had a hard core trip!

The reason that she went to Manila is because she’s going to get her husband, who is also our friend, for good. Because of this, we were all gathered up to create new memories and cherish both of our friends before they fly!17159051_10154156709960899_6044784808388364827_o

We ate at Mcdo, shopped at SM Supermarket,  roam around in the Sky Ranch and the time flew like it has wings – it’s already 2 in the afternoon!  We can finally check in at Casa Minerva. The place is 250 square meters and it’s kind of secluded, away from the highway. However, there are neighboring houses which could also be rented as a rest house. OR NOT. Screenshot_20170305-103749

The garage could fit two cars and we saw the pool as soon as we get in. In addition, the inuman session table could fit for 13-15 persons. The rooftop only allows the caretaker to get there, but we don’t mind since the porch on the second floor is spacious!Casa Minerva (9a)

This shot is from the inuman session area’s perspective. The staircase shown has an access going to the second floor’s terrace.Casa Minerva (12)

Routing that stairs will lead to this view -more seats and tambayan.Casa Minerva (8)

There are three bedrooms on the second floor and one bedroom on the first floor which unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo. Here are the three bedrooms.

It was stated in the AirBNB app that Casa Minerva can accommodate up to 20 pax. We’re not quite sure about the 20 because we’re 13 people and the bed is just enough for us. We also requested for extra mattress. Maybe sleeping in the living room could work. As for the wash room, they have plenty but there’s one that is closed.Casa Minerva (4)

I forgot to take the photos of the kitchen since I mostly did the video there. They have the utensils, refrigerator, microwave oven, percolator, plates, chopping board, cups, glasses, wok, pots, stove. The caretaker said that the knife was taken out by the previous guests. Aw! Anyway, check my video here. Hope it won’t be removed by Youtube.

The dining area is the first thing that can be seen upon entering the house.Casa Minerva (11)

The living room is located on the second floor. It’s well-ventilated.

IT’S A WRAP!
We got Casa Minerva for P11,193 for an overnight stay. Exceeding more than 20 pax will have an additional payment. The location is far from the highway so it is better to buy all of the stuff needed so there wouldn’t be much wasted time that should be spent for UBE (ultimate bonding experience). The SM Supermarket is accessible so we bought the things we have forgotten to buy.

We were lazy to cook for dinner so we ate in Green Ats Bulaluhan, a restaurant that can be easily seen as soon the highway is reached. It also got us a a scenic view of Mount Taal.P_20170305_175046_NT

Going back to Casa Minerva, we caught them cleaning when we arrived but the pool is blurry. Still, we swam that night and good thing that we didn’t itch. Meanwhile, we also ask for a paluto service and they charge for P1,000 per day excluding the budget and the fare to buy the ingredients. They have a cook but it was difficult to contact her so the owner told me that their caretaker could also cook but not as skillful as the cook. As we arrived, Kuya Jun who is the caretaker, welcomed us and  attended our needs as fast as he could. We got a problem with WiFi because their bandwidth already reached its limit. My friends asked the other caretakers and they don’t seem to know so I called the owner and she said that there’s a new WiFi provided. After that, Kuya Jun got the WiFi and placed it near the living room. The WiFi was okay but not fast enough since the signal is pretty low there. The rooms are all nice and the linens smell fresh and clean. Towels can be rented out and the mineral water is P100 per 5 galloon cylinder inclusive of use of hot and cold water dispenser. While inconveniences cannot be avoided, I salute that the owner can be contacted easily and she responded to the problems right away. Thank you also to Kuya Jun!
